Dream of Siam

I don't check the Stickman site as much as I used to. I've never been one for the "naughty nightlife", in fact, I can't imagine anything less enticing, but I've always found Stick's insights into the Thai mind interesting. Stick has never been one to pull his punches about Thailand, and as only those who have lived there (even for a short period) will know there are some seriously depressing aspects to life in Thailand, and some deep problems inherent in Thai society. So, it was with some interest I read the recent Stick Weekly.

For many years now Stick has seriously considered leaving Thailand and moving back to his homeland of New Zealand. At some point the thought must cross every Westerner's mind - there has to be more to life than copious quantities of freely available sex. What about building up a career, a business, a home, a relationship, a family, in short a real life?

Well, currently Stick is in NZ, presumably on vacation, but one wonders whether it will shortly be a permanent move. I have no idea either way, the lifestyle in Thailand can be very attractive, but it depends on the person and their circumstances as to whether living in Thailand full-time is The Right Thing TM or not. I have no idea which way Stick will go, but if I had to put money on it I'd go with a move back to NZ.

Nevertheless, I'll be reading further installments to the series with great interest!
